What is MITC? Meaning, Axis Bank MITC, and How to Read Yours

MITC full form is Most Important Terms and Conditions. It is the short rulebook your bank must follow on a credit card: fees, interest, credit limit, billing, lost-card steps, and how to close the card. On Axis Bank, that file is one consolidated MITC. Download it from axisbank.com/mitnc, then find your product row for joining fee, annual fee, GST, and fee-waiver spend.
The Key Fact Statement (KFS) is the one-page version you see at application time. Ads sell the card; MITC and KFS are what the bank must follow. If a “lifetime free” or lounge claim is not in those documents for your product, treat it as unverified.
Axis Bank MITC
Axis does not publish a separate MITC per card. ACE, ATLAS, Magnus, Flipkart, Airtel, and the rest share one Most Important Terms PDF with a joining / annual / add-on fee table. Your job is to download the live file, search your card name, and read that row, plus any later Axis amendment that overrides it.
Where to download Axis MITC, KFS, and the spend tracker
| Document | What it is | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Axis Bank MITC | Consolidated credit-card terms: fees, GST, interest, waiver table, default, closure | Open |
| Axis Key Fact Statement (KFS) | Short application-time sheet: fees, limits, billing in one view | Open |
To see live eligible spend versus the waiver target on each Axis card, use the Axis annual spend and fee-waiver portal (mobile number + Customer ID). Calendar-year spend on that dashboard is not the same as the card-anniversary window the MITC uses for waiver.
Fees, waiver, GST, and forex in the Axis MITC
In the Axis MITC, search “Joining, Annual and Add-on Card Fee”, “forex” / “foreign currency”, and “GST”. Axis applies GST on fees, interest, and charges (worked examples in the MITC use the notified rate, recently 18%). Waiver spend is almost always the card-anniversary year, not 1 January–31 December.
How to read two example rows (confirm the live PDF; Axis updates the table and publishes separate amendment PDFs):
| Axis card (example) | What that MITC row is for | What to confirm live |
|---|---|---|
| ACE | Joining / annual fee plus a spend-based renewal waiver. Rent (MCC 6513) and wallet load (MCC 6540) typically do not count toward waiver. | Your ACE row, GST on top, and the latest Axis amendment (DCC / exclusions can move) |
| ATLAS | Joining and annual fee on the same fee table. ATLAS has historically had no spend-based annual-fee waiver. Do not assume ACE-style waiver math. | The ATLAS row under joining / annual / add-on fees |
HDFC, ICICI, and other banks
Same idea at every issuer: one (or a few) MITC PDFs, then card-specific reward files. Download links below are the official documents we use in the catalogue. Reopen them, because banks replace files in place.
SBI Card, HSBC, Amex, and IDFC FIRST publish MITC or booklet PDFs per product or family. Search the card name plus “MITC” on the issuer site, or start from our card directory.
Why RBI cares about the MITC
In April 2022 the Reserve Bank of India tightened credit-card conduct rules (effective 1 July 2022). Banks must make the MITC clearer, send it separately, explain key ideas with examples, and share a signed copy of the agreement when terms change. Plain-language explainers such as Paisabazaar’s MITC guide summarise those rules for cardholders.
When you should see the MITC
- Marketing: main fees and charges should be visible before you apply.
- Application: a Key Fact Statement (KFS) with fees, limits, and billing basics.
- Welcome kit / onboarding: the full MITC, sent separately rather than buried only in fine print.
- Every change: an updated MITC with notice when a condition is modified.
- On billing: fees, statement rules, and limits stay visible as you use the card.
The bank should also email or post a signed copy of the MITC and the card agreement to your registered address, whichever you chose.
What the MITC usually covers
| Section | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Fees and charges | Joining / annual fees, cash advance fee, forex markup, interest (monthly and annualised), late fees, default charges |
| Interest-free period | How many days you get if you pay in full, and that carrying a past balance can cancel the grace period (banks must show an example) |
| Limits | Credit limit, available credit, cash withdrawal limit |
| Billing | Statement cycle, minimum due, how to pay, dispute process, customer-care contacts |
| Default and recovery | When you are reported as a defaulter, how that report is withdrawn after you settle, recovery steps |
| Closing the card | How to surrender the card, website / SMS / email contacts, unused-card closure rules |
| Lost or stolen card | How to block the card fast, and what you may still owe (zero / limited liability rules) |
| Complaints | Grievance steps, timelines, and compensation rules for failed transactions or slow closure |
| Credit bureau sharing | What data the bank shares with CICs, and when your approval is needed |
MITC vs Key Fact Statement (KFS)
People search “MITC and KFS” because banks hand you both and they look similar. They are not the same document.
| Compare | KFS | MITC |
|---|---|---|
| When you get it | With the application / before you sign | Onboarding, welcome kit, and whenever terms change |
| Length | One-page snapshot: fees, limits, billing | Fuller terms: fees, interest, default, closure, bureau sharing |
| Axis Bank | Key Fact Statement PDF on axisbank.com | Consolidated credit-card MITC at axisbank.com/mitnc |
| If they disagree | Use it to catch a fee before you apply | Wins for fees and interest once the card is live, unless a later amendment PDF says otherwise |
Rewards / lounge PDFs are a third pile. The MITC may point to them; still open those files before you plan a trip or cashback stack.
How to read an MITC in five minutes
- Search the PDF for “annual fee”, “waiver”, “forex”, and “interest”.
- Note the exact spend needed for a fee waiver, and whether GST is on top.
- Check cash advance and late-payment fees (easy to miss).
- Open any linked rewards or lounge document for caps and exclusions.
- Save the version date. Banks update MITCs; old screenshots go stale.
Quick FAQ
What is the MITC full form?
Most Important Terms and Conditions. In Indian banking it is the short rulebook for a credit card, debit card, or loan: fees, interest, limits, billing, default, and how to close the product.
What is MITC in Axis Bank?
Axis Bank MITC is the bank’s Most Important Terms and Conditions for credit cards. Axis publishes one consolidated MITC covering ACE, ATLAS, Magnus and other Axis cards. Download it from axisbank.com/mitnc, then find your product row for joining fee, annual fee, GST, and fee-waiver spend. Rewards and lounge rules often sit in separate Axis PDFs.
Where do I download the Axis Bank MITC?
Open axisbank.com/mitnc and download the current credit-card MITC PDF. Keep the version date. For a one-page fee snapshot at application time, use the Axis Key Fact Statement.
What is the difference between MITC and KFS?
KFS is the short sheet you get when you apply: fees, limits, and billing in one view. MITC is the fuller terms you get at onboarding and whenever the bank changes a condition. If marketing and the MITC disagree, trust the MITC, KFS, or signed agreement for fees and interest.
Does the MITC list lounge visits and reward rates?
Only in outline. Axis lounge quotas and spend gates usually live in a separate lounge PDF. ACE cashback and ATLAS EDGE miles live in card-specific feature terms. Use MITC for fees, waiver, interest, and forex; open the linked rewards or lounge file before you plan a trip.
What is MITC on a loan?
Loans also have an MITC, a different document from the credit-card MITC. Axis home, personal, and auto loans each have their own Most Important Terms covering interest, processing fees, foreclosure, and tenure. Search the product name plus MITC on the Axis site; this page is the credit-card MITC.
Where do I find my credit card MITC?
Issuer website or app (product page or documents), the welcome email, or customer care. Search the card name plus “MITC” or “Most Important Terms”. Axis: axisbank.com/mitnc. HDFC and ICICI publish a common credit-card MITC PDF on their sites.
What if the website and MITC disagree?
Trust the MITC, KFS, or signed agreement for fees and interest. Write to the bank if marketing still shows an older promise. Axis also publishes dated amendment PDFs that can override rows in the MITC. Check the latest amendment if a fee or exclusion just changed.
