Maximize adds Finnair Avios transfers (1 MaxCoin = 1 Avios)

Maximize × Finnair Plus — 1 MaxCoin equals 1 Avios, minimum 100 MaxCoins, usually instant conversion

On 8 August 2026 Maximize switched on MaxCoins → Finnair Plus Avios at 1:1. That is a rarer Indian door: a non-bank transfer into the Avios family (Finnair, British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling), not another 2:1 airline like KrisFlyer. The launch creative is blunt: 1 MaxCoin = 1 Avios, minimum 100 MaxCoins, usually instant.

What went live

  • Ratio: 1 MaxCoin = 1 Finnair Avios
  • Minimum: 100 MaxCoins (from the launch creative)
  • Posting: usually instant (creative); community in-app notes still allow up to 48 hours
  • You need a Finnair Plus account; names should match Maximize

Maximize pitched this as more than “another airline partner”: direct 1:1 Avios access, Finnair plus oneworld awards, the wider Avios ecosystem, and a family-transfer route. All of that is real Avios inventory. None of it is reserved by a MaxCoins transfer. Search the award first.

What Finnair Avios can book

  • Finnair metal via Helsinki — Europe, Northern Europe, and Asia connections
  • oneworld partner awards priced in Finnair Plus
  • Cabin upgrades and partner/shopping redemptions inside Finnair Plus
  • Avios moved 1:1 into a linked BA, Iberia, Aer Lingus, or Vueling account, then spent there

Maximize cited ₹4–₹5+ per Avios on the right premium-cabin ticket when taxes cooperate. That only holds if you would have bought that cabin in cash. Price the cash fare, add carrier-imposed surcharges (BA-priced awards are often the expensive ones), then divide. A cheap Helsinki hop can look average; a sweet-spot QSuites routing via the BA hop can look excellent.

How to move Avios onward (including Qatar)

  1. Transfer MaxCoins → Finnair Plus at 1:1 once you have a bookable award in mind.
  2. Wait until the Finnair Plus account is 30 days old, then link BA / Iberia / Aer Lingus / Vueling on Finnair’s Avios transfer page. Transfers between your own linked accounts are free and 1:1.
  3. Search awards in each programme — space and taxes differ.
  4. For Qatar Privilege Club: Finnair cannot link Qatar directly. Maximize’s sequence is Finnair → British Airways → Qatar Airways where those links are eligible.

Family transfers (€10)

Finnair lets you send Avios to another Finnair Plus member for a €10 service charge online (€20 via customer service; Finnair Visa cardholders can do it free at Finnair Shop). Maximize’s example chain is MaxCoins → Finnair → family member → British Airways → Qatar. That is a pooling trick, not a shortcut around the 30-day linking rule on each adult account. Transfers to Finnair Plus Junior are not allowed, and gifted Avios do not count as activity for expiry.

When 1:1 is worth it

If you already move HDFC, Amex, or Axis points into Avios at a decent ratio, keep using the bank door for card points. Maximize is the play when MaxCoins is what you have and you can see Finnair, BA, Iberia, or (after the BA hop) Qatar space. At 1:1 this is a stronger airline exit than KrisFlyer at 2:1 — if the award exists. Club ITC at 1:1 still wins for a domestic ITC stay at ₹1 a Green Point.

Practical checklist

  1. Open Finnair Plus with passport-matching name. If you will move Avios to BA, open that account too and start the 30-day clock now — before you transfer MaxCoins.
  2. Search the award (Finnair, BA, Iberia, or Qatar via BA). Screenshot miles + taxes.
  3. In Maximize, confirm 1:1 and the 100 MaxCoin minimum.
  4. Transfer only what the booking needs. Wait for Finnair to show the Avios.
  5. Link programmes only after day 30. For Qatar, move Finnair → BA → Qatar if those links are live for you.
  6. Book as soon as Avios sit in the programme that prices the seat. A transfer does not hold space.
